Completion of Cabochon Setting

Well, today is the day for finishing the Cabochon setting. So I thought I would try to make the edges fancy.

Well, I bought some juicy Diamond Burrs and on speaking to my Mentor, she suggested what I use them for. So, I gave it a go. I think quite a lot of practice is required, so I’ll put that on the ‘to do’ list for later, as I really need to get on.

I posted on Instagram yesterday as to whether I should make it into a pendant or ring, and the few votes I got, were for a pendant.

Thank goodness, so need to drill a hole and make a jump ring ready.

Attempts at designing the edges

Good Heavens, all was going well, until I decided to drill the hole. I must admit I was a bit anxious about the bezel strip. The piece of silver got so hot, it melted the solder joint!!

Still, I can now polish inside the cabochon, and start again.
